Greg Wells aka Doctor Colin

Training.

1990-93 Circus Pipsqueak ( Lewes Youth Circus )
Including specialised training with Lindsey Butcher of Ra Ra Zoo,
Sean Gandini juggling project, Ollie Crick, Puppeteering and Phil
Gunderson, mime and physical theatre.

List of skills acquired; unicycling, diablo, juggling, tightrope walking,
balance and co-ordination skills, puppeteering, mime, slapstick clowning,
performance skills, stage direction, lighting, sound and prop building.

1993-94 Attended a training course in Youth Work attached to Brunel University.

1995 Completed a Pyrotechnical Explosives Safety Course provided by
Kave Theatre Services.

1999 Attended a workshop with Chinese State Circus, including Diablo master class.

Work Biography
1991-92 Performed as an amateur in a double act with the Great Nipdini.
1992 Turned professional with the help of a grant from the Princes Youth Business Trust.

Began performing slapstick comedy routines as Doctor Colin and providing Circus skills tuition. Directed and co/wrote the annual Circus Pipsqueak L.Y.C. show.

Performed with The Awfully Brothers, a four man comedy routine and Co ran the Denton Youth Cub in Newhaven, East Sussex.

1993 to 1998. Took over as Director of Circus Pipsqueak L.Y.C.

Built up a professional reputation for versatility,working with Youth groups, children with special needs, schools, awide variety of outdoor events and both public and private functions, providing shows and workshops including a wide range of training equipment.

Performed as one half of double act The Raviolli's with the Great Nipdini.

1994 to current day .

Started working exclusively as Doctor Colin and Circus Box. Update July 2014 Has now retired from performances as Dr Colin

As well as working with various Arts bodies, councils, schools, Local
authorities and the afore mentioned. I have also provided Circus training,
equipment and performance direction for The Harlequin Theatre Company's
production of Barnum.

Performed at the Zap Club in Brighton in a regular slot on The Billy Silver Show.

For 15 years I provided The Winchester Hat Fair with an interactive open air circus workshop space for school children and the general public.

Co directed and performed in a 40 minute show for Bath Bedlum Street
Entertainers Festival working with Circus Fudge and High Voltage Trapeze.

Provided training, equipment and performance direction for the Brighton
Operatic Society's production of Barnum.

Directed and performed 45 minute Fire show plus stage performers and
dancers for Tribal Gathering for 95 and 96.

Co directed One day Live Performing Arts Festival in Lewes East Sussex,
providing a 12 hour programme of Big Top Circus performance and assisting
with fund-raising and site management.

Performed at the Royal Albert Hall for The Prince's Youth Trust in
front of H.R.H Prince Charles.

Performed for H.R.H. The Queen and H.R.H. Prince Charles at his official
50th birthday party at Buckingham Palace

Provided shows and circus activities for Make a wish foundation.

I am currently involved with the on going promotion of Circus Box
Interactive, specialising in Circus skills and performance training
for people of all ages, abilities and circumstances.


Media Work

1992 Appeared in 'Slapstick' an independent film production. Started
writing for Catch magazine, a street entertainer and circus performers
national publication.

1994 Performed on ITV's Friday Night Live. Television appearances
for Meridian TV and Thames TV. Interviewed for local newspapers and
featured in The Times, The Sun, The Daily Express, The Daily Mirror
and highlighted on John Peel's radio one programme. Interviewed for
Radio 5 live, Radio Sussex and Radio Mercury.

 

1995 Featured on Carlton TV's London news, Meridian news and various
radio and newspaper articles.

1996 Performance footage used by MTV as the backdrop to the chart
rundown. Featured in an article in The Guardian newspaper.

1997 Stared in 'Tricky workshop' a 20 minute programme featuring workshop
footage and interview for NTL cable.

1998 Appeared as a Circus street performer in the BBC1 production of Dangerfield.

2000 Appeared in an advert for Sky television.

2002 Featured live on BBC2's coverage of Glastonbury Festival.

2003 Featured live on DCV Dubai Saturday morning and weekday Show .

2004 > Has tried his best to stay off TV, out of newspapers and let everyone else get the limelight :-)

event organisers are responsible for this as this gives the children more of a feeling of being part of the circus.
